I followed several guides to setup Thinkfan on my Thinkpad T420 as well as I could but I am still not able to get it working.

After update to ubuntu 21.04,i got the same problem, then i add this line to /etc/default/thinkfan, my problem is ok.
THINKFAN_ARGS="-c /etc/thinkfan.conf"
